The majority of people in the rural areas live below the poverty line. Compared to urban areas, poverty rates are higher in rural areas. This is because rural areas are underserved and development is disproportionately concentrated in urban areas. Unlike the urban areas where people have access to social services, such services are nonexistent in rural areas. Schools are operating on shoe string budgets and are struggling to provide quality education to the students.
We aim to equip rural communities with quality education, youth & economic empowerment services, shelter, access to clean water and sanitation with the objective to reduce poverty.
The Tekeshe Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization which focuses on empowering and restoring dignity and hope to the people in the rural areas of Chipinge district in Zimbabwe. We work in collaboration with communities in Chipinge to provide diverse programs that are targeted towards helping everyone from young to old, spanning education, health, information and communication technology (ICT), economic empowerment, food and clothing, vocational training, and youth services.
